Fun Stuff

The first Sunday in April is unofficially Retro Day at Snowbasin resort. Ogden Utah is rich in skier history so its no surprise that everyone breaks out some pretty rare stuff. A sampling below:

Retro fashions never die.

Good friends at the Ogden Canyon ski museum.   This museum is in a private old cabin. Do not ask me where it is or to take you there. One cannot capture all the details of this rambunctious ski collection on film.

Spring Report 2003:  This week was so much fun I will probably always leave this on the site.

California rock & rollers, 5 foot tuesday and Tim Bluhm of the Mother Hips checked into the Chalet in early April for a steady week of rehearsing before  going on summer tour.  Now they are called the Tim Bluhm Involvemnet or Pinata?

All week everyone enjoyed skiing and snowboarding in sunny, warm, spring conditions. At the end of the week (closing weekend for the resorts) Atomic Chalet threw another margarita party for all our local friends. 5foot opened up the party with their own unique style of SoCal rock. After that, Tim with his mini Wurlitzer piano, joined 5foot for about a two hour set of the music they had been practicing all week. Man, can these guys harmonize and manipulate those guitars. Most excellent show!

Last but not least, Frame of Mind (who are no strangers to the chalet and locals here) set up around midnight for the third set and tore the house down again with their high energy, jam style, rock and roll. Needless to say, "This party Rocked!"

Bruce, OB, Neami and Josh, who form FOM stay at the Chalet frequently, especially when they were starting out  years ago touring the Rockies and home was far away in San Clemente Ca. The guys now enjoy living in McCall, ID and surfing Brundage Mtn. It has been fun and entertaining watching this band evolve at the beach and now become Idaho's #1 Jam band! Check their FOM website to see when they are jamming in a Rocky Mountain ski town near you. They also help design and make our Atomic Chalet T-shirts which will be available again this ski season.

This is a pic of Frame of Mind playing the street dance in Sun Valley April 17th 2003 Closing day. This is fun stuff! Sun Valley is usually open one week longer than Snowbasin and has awesome spring skiing also!
