Spring, summer and fall getaways This page suggests some simple ways to help one plan a short local getaway to the Ogden Valley. Because of our beautiful location and proximity to the Wasatch front, a stay at the Atomic Chalet in Huntville is a perfect opportunity for recreation, a romantic getaway or merely some rest and relaxation. During summer months the temperatures in the upper Ogden Valley are approximately 10 degrees cooler than temperatures on the Wasatch front. Half the fun of going on vacation should be, "going on vacation."
Any direction into the Ogden Valley would be worth the trip. Scenic Ogden Canyon from the West (hwy 39), Trappers Loop from the South (hwy 162) or Monte Cristo Summit from the East (hwy 39). Ogden Valley has several outstanding eateries just minutes from the chalet and all these provide outdoor dining throughout most of summer. They not only provide a great meal but a great view as well. Be sure to save some room after dinner for some homemade cookies and a movie back in your room. Wolf Creek resort has a stunning view of the Ogden Valley and provides fine dining, balcony dining and as well as Mexican cuisine in a resort atmosphere. Snow Basin Resort: Ride a scenic gondola to the Needles Lodge at the top of Snow Basin Resort for an elegant dinner. Snowbasin's summer web site can direct you to a number of dinning opportunities throughout the summer and fall weekends. Yukon Grille at Trappers Village in historic Huntsville is casual Alaskan BBQ and one can ride their bike or walk from the chalet. Harly and Bucks Grille in the historic Eden general store is quickly becoming the most popular eatery in the valley. Bring your beach chairs, a picnic and enjoy some great music in the mountain air. Wolf Mountain has a complete summer schedule of Friday night music on the mountain. Snow Basin has a full summer schedule of music on the plaza Sunday afternoons throughout the summer and early fall.

The wildflowers in the high mountains are simply amazing. Thats Pinview Reservoir and Huntsville town in the valley below Snowbasin. The Ogden valley has a stunning display of fall colors beginning early September through October.

The Atomic Chalet is only a few blocks from the historic Huntsville park and multiple beach accesses - making this Norman-Rockwell-like (flat) town great for walking or bicycling and taking in the valley's 360 degree views.
